The Measured Term Contract is a flexible, medium-to-longer term procurement 'framework' or 'term' agreement and is generally appropriate where the intended programme and contract period are for a year, or more.
The JCT Measured Term Contract is designed for use by employers who have a regular flow of works that they would like to be carried out by a single contractor over a specified period of time.
The type of work that measured term contracts are generally suitable for are maintenance and/or minor works, including improvement projects.
Under the MTC, orders for the work would be instructed on an agreed basis with the contractor in relation to properties that are individually identified, and/or situated within a specified geographical area.
Provisions in the contract include a minimum and a maximum value for individual orders, and specifying a reasonable period of time for the completion of the woks.
The Measured Term Contract would also include an approximate anticipated value of the total orders to be placed under the contract, either annually, or overall for the term of the contract.
