Building Contracts for Houses, Extensions, Refurbishment and Conversions
It is always better to have a contract when you are having any sort of building works done as this provides security for both the client and any professionals, or trades people employed to carry out any works, or services.
We have selected a range of different types of contracts that are suitable for building works from £50 to £250,000 in value.
The building contracts follow what is often called the 'traditional route' where the design is completed first and then the contractor is appointed to carry out the construction work.
These types of construction contracts are also referred to as 'lump-sum' contracts because a 'lump-sum' price is agreed for all the building works before they begin.
We sell all the available standard forms of published building contracts from the major players in the UK construction industry:
JCT - the Joint Contracts Tribunal, a UK construction industry wide publisher of standard contracts on behalf of all contractors, architects and surveyors. RIBA - the Royal Institute of British Architects representing the architectural profession. CIOB is the Chartered Institute of Building, a body representing the building contractors. ACE - the Association of Consultancy and Engineering for the appointment of Consultants and Engineers.
There are a number of different contract forms to choose from when having building work done so we have divided then into two groups of small works and contracts for extensions.
